National Recycling Week

Busted! We are laying waste to recycling myths

We're helping put an end to some of the myths about recycling.

Working with Australian leaders in waste removal and resource recovery, we wanted to get involved to educate and encourage behaviour change towards recycling when Planet Ark's National Recycling Week came around.

In a campaign targeting both households and businesses, our main objective was to communicate a commitment to environmental sustainability, through innovative, efficient and environmentally-friendly recovery solutions. To generate interest in these services, we needed to review the target audiences' objectives, needs and wants.

Based on this, we developed a content plan and campaign journey to drive engagement.

As a business that prides itself on providing sustainable solutions for their clients, National Recycling Week was an opportunity to put to bed some of those common myths surrounding recycling. We based our awareness campaign on Myth Busting; helping lay waste to recycling myths.

We wanted to make recycling as accessible as possible for everyone.

We brought our campaign to life through a suite of resources to help our audiences get their recycling journey underway, including:

  • A series of social posts that included "Did you knows?" and making sense of recycling triangles.

  • A series of Myth Busting social stories, that identified common recycling myths as fact or fiction.

  • We created an activity sheet for parents to do with their kids to educate and help familiarise them with recycling.

  • We developed a waste audit review questionnaire to help businesses consider their impact and how they can improve their recycling practices.

  • We also supported with landing page content and a variety of resources to help households and businesses begin their recycling journey.
